Crossfader or Channel Faders (DJing)
~~~~~~ THE TRUTH:
Having the xfader set to hard cut and the upfaders set to a gradual fade gives the best of both worlds.
Quick cuts you can use the xfader for, smooth blends you can use the upfaders.
To really master mixing you must master both.
What is analyzing files, and how do I do it?
What is analyzing files, and how do I do it?
Analyzing files is the process which allows Scratch Live to prepare the overview of the track, detect the tracks BPM, apply any auto gain and alert you to any corrupt files you might have.
To analyze files you must disconnect the hardware interface and run Scratch Live. You will notice a button labeled 'analyze files' on the main screen. Select this to automatically analyze the all the tracks in your library.
The three bars above the button indicate the track reading progress, the file analyzing and the track writing progress.
Analyzing files is highly recommended.
Connecting the Launchkey w/ Working InControl Functions:
Connecting the Launchkey w/ Working InControl Functions:
There are two Midiports for the Launchkey:
a) Launchkey(XX) = is only there for the incoming midi events if you press your keyboard or anything else
b) Launchkey Port 2 = InControl Mode and so on.
So, how to set up? Select the "Midi/Sync" Tab.
Select on Control Surfaces "Launckey".
Select on Input "Launchkey (xx) Port 2
Select on Output "Launckey (xx) Port 2
Takeover Mode: PickUp
Midi Port Input Launchkey (xx): Track = on
Midi Port Input Launchkey Port 2: Track = on, Remote = on
Midi Port Output Launchkey Port 2: Track = on, Remote = on
(xx) stands for the Launkey Version you have. In my case it's the Launchkey61 so xx=61
ALSO IF IT DOESN'T CONNECT:
- Swap where the USBs connect (front: 4th USB to 2nd USB & vise-a-versa)
- In Ableton: In the Preferences: (If it's greyed out choose it again)
(Usually the input & outputs will be greyed out):
Control Surface: Launchkey
Input: Launchkey #2 (port 2)
Output: Launchkey #2 (port 2)
In the 64-bit version of Live, you can use 64-bit plug-ins natively. 32-bit plug-ins cannot be used directly in the 64-bit version, but third-party tools such as jBridgeM allow them to be used within the 64-bit version.
